In Their Own Words

Family Experiences

"My mother had accumulated forty years of documents in three different properties, and none of us knew where anything important was kept. The records orientation session gave us a clear framework to work through everything. It took away the feeling of being overwhelmed — and what was left felt manageable."

"My husband and I had been meaning to sort our records for years. We finally did the Family Archive Programme and I wish we had started sooner. The process was longer than I expected — a few weeks — but each session was quiet and purposeful. It did not feel like a task we were being rushed through."

"After our father passed, sorting through everything took months and caused real friction in our family. We did not want the same to happen with our parents' generation. The facilitated conversation helped us all talk about things we had been quietly avoiding. It was hard in places, but we finished feeling much closer, not further apart."

"I was a bit sceptical about whether this was worth it — we are a simple family without complicated affairs. But the orientation gave us things we simply had not thought about. Where to store digital copies. Who knows where the key documents are. Small things that would have caused confusion later."

"I appreciated that Heirwell was clear from the start about what they do and do not do. We had already been to a solicitor, so we were not looking for legal advice — we wanted help with the practical side and with having an honest conversation as a family. That is exactly what we got."

"We joined as a couple and included my partner's elderly father in the second session. Nantawan was particularly skilled at including him without making him feel the process was being done around him rather than with him. That was important to us and she understood it without us having to ask."

In Detail

How We Supported Three Families

Case Study 01

A Widowed Parent, Three Adult Children, No Shared Understanding

The Situation

After her husband passed, a mother in Surat Thani found herself holding documents she did not fully understand, with three children who each had different assumptions about where things stood. Conversations about it kept being postponed.

What Heirwell Did

We began with a records orientation session with the mother alone. Once she felt comfortable, we facilitated a family conversation with all four family members present. Each session had a written summary the family kept.

The Outcome

Within six weeks, the family had a clear archive structure, a shared understanding of intentions, and had identified two areas where a solicitor's involvement was appropriate. They engaged one independently the following month.

"It stopped being something we were going to deal with one day — and became something we had actually done together."

Case Study 02

An Expat Couple Wanting Records in Order Before Returning Abroad

The Situation

A British-Thai couple based in Koh Samui were planning to spend more time in the UK. They owned property in both countries and wanted a clear record of everything before the transition, with their adult daughter able to locate key documents if needed.

What Heirwell Did

We ran a full Family Archive Programme over five weeks, working partly in-person and partly via video call. Sessions were conducted in English. We included their daughter in the final session so she had full visibility of the archive structure.

The Outcome

The couple left with a complete, well-organised archive covering both jurisdictions, a clear note of which professionals in each country would need to be involved in formal steps, and a daughter who knew exactly where everything was.

"We had been putting this off for three years. Heirwell made it feel possible — and it actually was."
